Heart of Hunter Tours

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose my own cellar doors?

Yes, of course! Just choose our Bespoke Tour.
Alternatively, you can leave everything up to us… the choice is yours.
Or something in between. For example, simply tell us your favourite wine style(s) and we’ll find perfect cellar doors to match.
And it doesn’t have to be all about wine. There’s beer, spirits, scenic lookouts, etc.
(Click here to view our tours.)

How many cellar doors will I visit?
Bespoke Tour

Typically, four.
However, this will depend on several factors including which cellar doors we visit, your lunch destination and type of tasting experiences selected.
So your tour never feels rushed, we usually allow 60-90 minutes at each cellar door.
Of course, we can spend less time or more time… it’s entirely up to you.

Fixed itinerary tours

It depends on which tour you choose.

What is the start time and end time of the tour?

This will depend on the location of your accommodation and which tour you choose.
Typically, we like to arrive at our first cellar door at 10:00 a.m. and depart our last cellar door at around 5:00 p.m. This is designed to maximise your enjoyment.
On our Bespoke Tour, this is totally flexible and up to you. Some guests prefer to start a little later, while some prefer to finish a little earlier.

We love creating bespoke tours for our guests. They are both challenging and rewarding.

Guest requirements for yesterday’s tour:
1. Revisit the place where we eloped nearly 6 years ago.
2. Show my Aunt a great time (it’s her birthday and first visit to the Hunter Valley).
3. A brewery for lunch.
4. Wine preferences: “something not too sweet, a good red (especially Cab Sav), Riesling or Chablis, Chardonnay, sparkling”.

Challenge accepted. With a touch of creative freedom, we ticked all the boxes!

A huge thank you to the following awesome businesses (in alphabetical order) for making it all possible:

I’m not sure if it’s celebrated internationally or just America.

Anyway, it provides the perfect excuse to open this superb Australian (and Hunter Valley) wine.

Halliday rated it 97 points way back in 2013. Amazing intensity and length, It’s improved since then!

Anyone know the amazing movie “The Bridges of Ma Anyone know the amazing movie “The Bridges of Madison County”, starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep?
One of my favourite Clint Eastwood movies, in fact, one of my favourite movies full stop.

It’s not really about bridges.
But anyway, I reckon our local bridges, crossing the Hunter River (and tributaries), rival theirs.

Case in point: this beauty crossing the Hunter River at Luskintyre.
